1,3-dimethylamylamine

1,3-dimethylamylamine is a derivative of geranium oil which resembles the body's own chemical messenger, epinephrine (adrenaline). Similar to adrenaline, 1,3-dimethylamylamine exihibits a powerful CNS stimulanting ability, for increased energy, mental clarity, and physical performance. 1,3-dimethylamylamine works through a similar pathway as ephedrine, causing an increase in cAMP (the chemical messenger that triggers fat release and provides potent appetite suppression and thermogenic action).


Theobromine

Theobromine has been used for more than a century as a stimulant, diuretic, and vasodilator, and offers a number of benefits when taken as part of a balanced diet. Theobromine is a natural extract of cocoa and over sixty species of plant.

Difference between caffeine & Theobromine: 
Unlike caffeine, theobromine has three methyl groups instead of two, and the presence of an additional methyl group slows the clearance of theobromine from the body. Thus, theobromine is a longer acting substance than caffeine.
Although theobromine is related to caffeine and exerts similar effects, theobromine does not affect the body through central nervous system stimulation. Instead, it induces muscular relaxation of the smooth muscle tissue. However, the presence of an additional methyl group increases its half-life and slows system clearance - thus making its effects longer lasting

Perhaps the best known effect of Theobromine is as a vasodilator, and it is regularly prescribed by doctors in order to relieve the symptoms of angina pectoris. It works by acting on the nerves in the veins, and causing them to relax in order to allow more blood to flow. For this reason, combined with its mild stimulating effect, Theobromine offers benefits to endurance athletes, and will allow them to work at a high intensity for much longer than otherwise.

Methylxanthine

Methylxanthines are molecular compounds that act simultaneously as cardiac stimulants, diuretic, and smooth muscle relaxants. While the most commonly known form is caffeine, certain methylxanthine compounds are used as bronchodilators to stimulate the cardiovascular and respiratory systems in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd). Methylxanthine compounds are able to provide short-term relief from the effects of COPD.

Methylxanthine are actually derivatives of xanthine, which is a purine found in the human body. Other than caffeine, methylxanthine is specifically used as bronchodilators in COPD treatment.Therefore, athletes use methylxanthines to temporarily increase energy and adrenaline response

Beta-Alanine

Beta-alanine is supported by scientific studies that show the following benefits: increased muscle mass, increased anaerobic endurance, increased aerobic activity, delayed muscle fatigue, and enhanced ability to train more intensely and longer under greater workloads.

During high-intensity weight training or strength related athletics, muscles are forced to continue contracting without sufficient oxygen (anaerobic activity) and end products like H+ (hydrogen ion), primarily from lactic acid buildup, accumulate and cause a decrease in the pH (making the muscular environment more acidic). When H+ causes your muscles' pH levels to drop, this immediately interferes with muscular contraction and quickly decreases strength as muscular fatigue sets in fast. This limitation prevents the adequate muscular overload required to stimulate muscle gains.

Beta-alanine inhibits this pH drop, which allows for the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphate (PCr) energy systems to continue to supply muscular energy for further muscular contraction. Beta-alanine ethly ester HCl acts as a pH buffer by increasing the production of carnosine, which is a dipeptide known to buffer lactic acid accumulation and neutralize hydrogen ions. Beta-alanine is the rate-limiting step in carnosine synthesis, meaning that the amount of carnosine in the body is dependent on how much beta-alanine is still available for utilization. Studies have shown that supplementing with beta-alanine increases carnosine concentration by as much as 42% to 65% in just four weeks. Researchers have found that the combination of creatine and beta-alanine has favorable effects on the accumulation of lean muscle mass.

L-Citrulline Malate

Citrulline Malate works by powering ATP (the energy molecule that fuels muscle) production and by eliminating metabolic pollutants such as lactic acid and ammonia from the blood. Citrulline stimulates energy, boosts the immune system, is metabolized to form L-Arginine and as a result regulate Nitric Oxide production, and detoxifies ammonia, which damages living cells. All exercise results in production of Ammonia

Creatinol-O-Phosphate

This compound is ten times more expensive than creatine monohydrate. Although its name suggests it is a form of creatine, Creatinol-O-Phosphate is actually not a creatine compound, but rather works as a performance-enhancing agent. The action of Creatinol-O-Phosphate appears to be complementary to that of beta-alanine and functions as an intracellular buffer by increasing anaerobic glycolysis in the presence of lactic acid (lactate).

Thus, Creatinol-O-Phosphate extends the time under tension when performing highly intense workloads. It is believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate delays the onset of failure at the neuromuscular junction, which is where the nervous system communicates with a muscle cell. This is of particular significance during eccentric (negative) work because eccentric failure is the result of fatigue at the neuromuscular junction. Failure at the neuromuscular junction results in a loss of sarcolemma(plasma membrane) integrity, which breaks down communication between the nervous system and muscle cells. This is the principal reason that failure occurs during intense negative workloads and is the result of the buildup of lactic acid.

By delaying the onset effects of lactic acid, and by preserving for a bit longer the integrity of the neuromuscular junction by increasing tolerance to neuromuscular fatigue, the nervous system can still communicate with muscle cells, resulting in the maximum recruitment of muscle fibers that would have never have otherwise been stimulated. Greater overall muscular stimulation then translates to increased hypertrophy.

It is also believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate reduces the loss of creatine kinase across the plasma membrane. This allows muscle cells to convert creatine to PCr and then to ATP more efficiently, which contributes to more muscular energy.

Creatinol-O-Phosphate is said to complement beta-alanine because Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over where beta-alanine leaves off. Beta-alanine results in greater production of carnosine, which buffers out H+ and thus balances muscular pH. However, when carnosine hits its limit and lactic acid builds up, Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over to allow for continued performance of negative workloads even in the presence of lactic acid.

L-Arginine Malate

Of course L-Arginine is part of the NOS formulation. L-arginine malate combines the exercise benefits of arginine with malic acid, a naturally occurring organic compound that plays a crucial role in the body’s natural energy producing cycle. L-Arginine Malate is also known as di-arginine malate or nitrous malate, L-arginine malate has the same benefits as basic L-arginine but offers a more efficient delivery system. L-arginine malate is a more bioavailable analog of the L-arginine base amino acid with increased absorption, fewer side effects and better taste.

A large number of athletes ingest malic acid combined with Creatine in the form of Dicreatine Malate to increase the delivery of oxygen to muscle cells as they work to improve stamina and endurance. Malic acid is available as a supplement, either as a stand-alone compound or as part of a complex. One of malic acid’s most significant benefits lies in its ability to stimulate metabolism and increase energy production. This stems from the integral role it plays in a process known as the Krebs cycle (5,6,7). So now you know why malates (malic acid bond) compounds and in a pre-work-out.

For under $500 a Greens/Superfoods or sleeping formula.
It is usually over $100,000 to do one flavor of a protein. We are one of only 5 known companies that have a hydrolyzed whey protein out & that will only set up back $480 per flavor. Yes you are only getting 12 but you are not stressed trying to sell a truck load & with not much more of a price break.

If you want to private label one of our products, minimums are as low as 12 bottles.
If you currently sell someone else's product (like we do) you are lucky to be averaging a $5 profit (more like $1.50) & usually lose money on protein. Depending on the product you should average at least a $15 profit. This all depends obviously on your confidence in your product & not getting all caught up in comparing your protein for example with everyones else's that may be cheaper, among other factors.

1,3-dimethylamylamine

1,3-dimethylamylamine is a derivative of geranium oil which resembles the body's own chemical messenger, epinephrine (adrenaline). Similar to adrenaline, 1,3-dimethylamylamine exihibits a powerful CNS stimulanting ability, for increased energy, mental clarity, and physical performance. 1,3-dimethylamylamine works through a similar pathway as ephedrine, causing an increase in cAMP (the chemical messenger that triggers fat release and provides potent appetite suppression and thermogenic action).


Theobromine

Theobromine has been used for more than a century as a stimulant, diuretic, and vasodilator, and offers a number of benefits when taken as part of a balanced diet. Theobromine is a natural extract of cocoa and over sixty species of plant.

Difference between caffeine & Theobromine: 
Unlike caffeine, theobromine has three methyl groups instead of two, and the presence of an additional methyl group slows the clearance of theobromine from the body. Thus, theobromine is a longer acting substance than caffeine.
Although theobromine is related to caffeine and exerts similar effects, theobromine does not affect the body through central nervous system stimulation. Instead, it induces muscular relaxation of the smooth muscle tissue. However, the presence of an additional methyl group increases its half-life and slows system clearance - thus making its effects longer lasting

Perhaps the best known effect of Theobromine is as a vasodilator, and it is regularly prescribed by doctors in order to relieve the symptoms of angina pectoris. It works by acting on the nerves in the veins, and causing them to relax in order to allow more blood to flow. For this reason, combined with its mild stimulating effect, Theobromine offers benefits to endurance athletes, and will allow them to work at a high intensity for much longer than otherwise.

Methylxanthine

Methylxanthines are molecular compounds that act simultaneously as cardiac stimulants, diuretic, and smooth muscle relaxants. While the most commonly known form is caffeine, certain methylxanthine compounds are used as bronchodilators to stimulate the cardiovascular and respiratory systems in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd). Methylxanthine compounds are able to provide short-term relief from the effects of COPD.

Methylxanthine are actually derivatives of xanthine, which is a purine found in the human body. Other than caffeine, methylxanthine is specifically used as bronchodilators in COPD treatment.Therefore, athletes use methylxanthines to temporarily increase energy and adrenaline response

Slightly relax the airways in the lungs (also known as a bronchodilator.

Improve breathing by increasing the strength of the diaphragm and by stimulating the breathing control centers in the brain, making it easier to get mucus out of the lungs

Beta-Alanine

Beta-alanine is supported by scientific studies that show the following benefits: increased muscle mass, increased anaerobic endurance, increased aerobic activity, delayed muscle fatigue, and enhanced ability to train more intensely and longer under greater workloads.

During high-intensity weight training or strength related athletics, muscles are forced to continue contracting without sufficient oxygen (anaerobic activity) and end products like H+ (hydrogen ion), primarily from lactic acid buildup, accumulate and cause a decrease in the pH (making the muscular environment more acidic). When H+ causes your muscles' pH levels to drop, this immediately interferes with muscular contraction and quickly decreases strength as muscular fatigue sets in fast. This limitation prevents the adequate muscular overload required to stimulate muscle gains.

Beta-alanine inhibits this pH drop, which allows for the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphate (PCr) energy systems to continue to supply muscular energy for further muscular contraction. Beta-alanine ethly ester HCl acts as a pH buffer by increasing the production of carnosine, which is a dipeptide known to buffer lactic acid accumulation and neutralize hydrogen ions. Beta-alanine is the rate-limiting step in carnosine synthesis, meaning that the amount of carnosine in the body is dependent on how much beta-alanine is still available for utilization. Studies have shown that supplementing with beta-alanine increases carnosine concentration by as much as 42% to 65% in just four weeks. Researchers have found that the combination of creatine and beta-alanine has favorable effects on the accumulation of lean muscle mass.

L-Citrulline Malate

Citrulline Malate works by powering ATP (the energy molecule that fuels muscle) production and by eliminating metabolic pollutants such as lactic acid and ammonia from the blood. Citrulline stimulates energy, boosts the immune system, is metabolized to form L-Arginine and as a result regulate Nitric Oxide production, and detoxifies ammonia, which damages living cells. All exercise results in production of Ammonia

Creatinol-O-Phosphate

This compound is ten times more expensive than creatine monohydrate. Although its name suggests it is a form of creatine, Creatinol-O-Phosphate is actually not a creatine compound, but rather works as a performance-enhancing agent. The action of Creatinol-O-Phosphate appears to be complementary to that of beta-alanine and functions as an intracellular buffer by increasing anaerobic glycolysis in the presence of lactic acid (lactate).

Thus, Creatinol-O-Phosphate extends the time under tension when performing highly intense workloads. It is believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate delays the onset of failure at the neuromuscular junction, which is where the nervous system communicates with a muscle cell. This is of particular significance during eccentric (negative) work because eccentric failure is the result of fatigue at the neuromuscular junction. Failure at the neuromuscular junction results in a loss of sarcolemma(plasma membrane) integrity, which breaks down communication between the nervous system and muscle cells. This is the principal reason that failure occurs during intense negative workloads and is the result of the buildup of lactic acid.

By delaying the onset effects of lactic acid, and by preserving for a bit longer the integrity of the neuromuscular junction by increasing tolerance to neuromuscular fatigue, the nervous system can still communicate with muscle cells, resulting in the maximum recruitment of muscle fibers that would have never have otherwise been stimulated. Greater overall muscular stimulation then translates to increased hypertrophy.

It is also believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate reduces the loss of creatine kinase across the plasma membrane. This allows muscle cells to convert creatine to PCr and then to ATP more efficiently, which contributes to more muscular energy.

Creatinol-O-Phosphate is said to complement beta-alanine because Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over where beta-alanine leaves off. Beta-alanine results in greater production of carnosine, which buffers out H+ and thus balances muscular pH. However, when carnosine hits its limit and lactic acid builds up, Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over to allow for continued performance of negative workloads even in the presence of lactic acid.

L-Arginine Malate

Of course L-Arginine is part of the NOS formulation. L-arginine malate combines the exercise benefits of arginine with malic acid, a naturally occurring organic compound that plays a crucial role in the body’s natural energy producing cycle. L-Arginine Malate is also known as di-arginine malate or nitrous malate, L-arginine malate has the same benefits as basic L-arginine but offers a more efficient delivery system. L-arginine malate is a more bioavailable analog of the L-arginine base amino acid with increased absorption, fewer side effects and better taste.

A large number of athletes ingest malic acid combined with Creatine in the form of Dicreatine Malate to increase the delivery of oxygen to muscle cells as they work to improve stamina and endurance. Malic acid is available as a supplement, either as a stand-alone compound or as part of a complex. One of malic acid’s most significant benefits lies in its ability to stimulate metabolism and increase energy production. This stems from the integral role it plays in a process known as the Krebs cycle (5,6,7). So now you know why malates (malic acid bond) compounds and in a pre-work-out.

How is WHEY RESULTZ Made?

WHEY RESULTZ protein powder is extracted through CTP (Cold Temperature Process) Microfiltration; this is a Cross-Flow Microfiltration (CFM) process. So lets start with the first fact that is going to change an industry and start more fights than Helen of Troy. Your protein sucks and its not my fault. Please do not misunderstand me. There really are some well designed and researched products available from companies like Progenex with brilliant people like Dr. Scott Connelly and of course some of the creative and high quality proteins from good companies like MHP. But there is an inherent flaw in most proteins available on the market: They were not made for humans.

I Know We All Want Great Calves But We Are Not Calves

You are not a cow so why are you drinking cow proteins like whey and casein? Last time you had human protein was when Mom made it fresh for you. Cows milk protein is about 80% casein and 20% whey. Human milk protein is about 40% casein and 60% whey. There is no doubt that human whey is superior for human utilization at birth. As a baby grows breast milk proteins change until the ratio is about 50/50.

So What's the Big Deal?

Lets start from the source: Human milk whey protein is dominant in alpha-lactalbumin and cow milk whey protein is dominant in beta-lactoglobulin. Whereas alpha-lactalbumin has been studied well for validation associated with increased immune factors to disease, allergies, increased mineral absorption and growth factors specific to humans, beta-lactoglobulin has been associated with the exact opposite. Its for cows, what were you expecting?

In short that gut bloat is not just extra calories anymore than the excess gas you assumedly avoid sharing with friends and training partners is a supposed side effect of an anabolic environment. Gastronomical distress is not new to cow protein utilization by humans. As I said, you are a human so there should be little shock here. Immune issues will slow or stop growth and recovery while increasing cortisol production. Sometimes decrease in immune function can even lead to Immunotoxicity, but certainly rare in regard to proteins sources.

But Whey Has a PER (Protein Efficiency Ratio) of 104,Right?

Okay, BS. Since you cannot exceed 100% this is already a little silly. PER is a false method for evaluation of a proteins actual utilization in building new muscle tissue. What is the definition of PER?

A biological assay of the quality of a particular protein, measured as the gain in weight of an animal per gram of the protein eaten. The PER ratio is not used so much now, but until 1991 the PER was the legally required way of expressing protein quality for nutrition labeling in the USA.
Many still use it today. Bottom line is that no matter what you add to or fraction in whey protein from cows, its still from cows and not designed for humans.

Um, protein (such as cow whey) with the incorrect ration of amino acids specific to human physiology utilization results in stores of fat as well, so basing a proteins efficiency ratio on weight gain is obviously idiocy. A far superior method of assaying a proteins anabolic (muscle building) value and actual utilization in lean mass is Net Nitrogen Utilization or NNU. The very highest quality whey protein has a NNU of 16-17%. So this means the other 83-84% can be stored as fat, burned as calories, or hit the toilet. 83-84% catabolites is not a healthy or lean mass promoting percentage. The lions share goes by way of the latter BTW. So when you pay $20 USD for a pound (454 grams) of high quality whey protein powder you actually get about 77 grams of protein with an NNU near 100%. The rest hits the toilet for the most part. Good investment, huh? Kind of a crappy one in my opinion.
Want to add insult to injury? As we continue to ingest high levels of protein the amount utilized lessens over time. So whereas you were once utilizing 17% of that 100-200 grams of whey ingested daily it can drop to as low as half that over a prolonged period of high protein intake. What happens then? Even more body fat and toilet trash.

So What is Humapro?

Q:I Noticed you didn’t add any form of Glutamine to Chain’d Out. Why?
A:As mentioned prior, amino acids can compete for muscle cell receptors. They can also compete for GI uptake and digestion. Some studies support glutamine and BCAAs are examples but there is far more to the issue.

Metabolism of oral/dietary amino acids by the gut and liver has a major impact on the amino acid profile reaching systemic (whole body) circulation. Specific examples include removal of nearly 100% of dietary glutamine and glutamate, 60% of threonine, and 40% of phenylalanine during the absorption process largely by oxidative degradation (degradation to carbon/ glucose, ammonia and uric acid). The top exceptions to this pattern of modifi cations are the BCAAs. Over 80% of dietary content of leucine, valine, and isoleucine directly makes their way to blood circulation. Unfortunately, once they make it to muscle cells and the brain (other organs as well) they are easily converted into glucose and glycogen (sugar) due to several physiological action/reaction factors. Unless, of course, they are in a protected time-release anti-catabolic/anabolic matrix.

  • 1) Hyperammonemia is an over-abundance of ammonia in the body resulting from the breakdown of amino acids to ammonia and glucose (gluconeogenesis for energy) which in turn increases the utilization of branched-chain amino acids in muscle. This is especially prominant when ketoglutarate is low, and is further enhanced by glutamine depletion. Sounds like more glutamine would be cool then, huh? (At the right time… it is)Unfortunately not only is glutamine the most abundant amino acid, it’s also the most abundant gluconeogenic amino acid in the human body. In fact its conversion to glucose is about equal to that of alanine. The kidneys alone produce about 25% of whole body glucose production… from glutamine. Now ponder the additional amount converted to glucose in muscles and other organs then consider just how much circulatory and muscle bound ammonia waste results. Now think about reconsidering the first paragraph again: More ammonia (hyperammonemia) means more BCAAs utilized for energy in/by muscle resulting in lean mass loss. Therefore, a signifi cant increase in blood glutamine concentration can signal hyperammonemia and thus increased BCAA/lean muscle loss. You know that ammonia smell you run into all over the gym? Yup, that is the smell of muscle loss. Is it you?
  • 2) Tyrosine, which increases levels of dopamine and norepinephrine, is also one of our substrates for glutamine. Tyrosine competes with BCAAs absorption into the brain and low tyrosine can cause loss of energy, fatigue and depression. Since glutamine is a substrate of tyrosine, ingesting BCAAs and glutamine together potentially hinders performance as well resulting in lower intensity and less productive training or performances.
  • 3) An interesting study on BCAAs aff ects upon fatigue was conducted in Japan: First Department of Internal Medicine, Okayama University Medical School, 5-1, 2-chome, Shikata-cho, 700 Okayama, Japan.

The molar ratio of excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters (glutamate and aspartate) to inhibitory amino acid neurotransmitters (raminobutyric acid, GABA, and glycine) in the brain was diminished in acute hepatic failure rats with hyperammonemia, brain edema, and abnormal electroencephalograms. The ratio was further decreased with a marked elevation of arterial and brain ammonia levels 30 min after ammonium acetate was administered i.p. to hepatic failure rats. A continuous infusion of a branched chain amino acid (BCAA) solution before and after the ammonia loading eff ectively reversed the ammoniainduced lowering of this ratio; high ammonia contents in the brain were concomitantly decreased. Infusing glutamate instead of the BCAA solution failed to produce similar eff ects probably because of limited entry of glutamate into the brain. The above results suggest that excitatory and inhibitory amino acid neurotransmitter ratios (glutamate, aspartate, and GABA) are positively aff ected by BCAAs. In short, BCAA supplementation reduced brain/physical fatigue. So more muscle and better performance if we simply don’t mix glutamine with BCAAs.Glutamine is paramount to health and recovery, but timing is everything.

Q: Does Chain’d Out Contain Any Sugars? I’m on a Keto Diet.
A: No, and more importantly it’s far more difficult for alpha-hydroxy-ester protected BCAAs to convert by way of gluconeogenesis to glucose resulting in greater fat stores being used as energy substrates. By adding anti-stress and anti-cortisol compounds to the Chain’d Out matrix the normal triggers of gluconeogenesis are reduced thus allowing for increased anabolism. Kind of cool, huh? In order to produce amino acids using microorganisms, it is important to find a microorganism with a high potential for producing amino acids. One gram of natural soil contains about 100 million microorganisms. From these a useful one can be picked out.

Once a microorganism suitable for the fermentation method has been selected, it is necessary to enhance its potential, that is, to make improvements to take full advantage of the potential of the organism.

Generally, microorganisms produce the 20 kinds of amino acids only in the amounts necessary to themselves. They have a mechanism for regulating the quantities and qualities of enzymes to yield amino acids only in the needed amounts. Therefore, it is necessary to release this regulatory mechanism in order to manufacture the target amino acid in large amounts.

The yield of an amino acid depends on the quantities and qualities of the enzymes. Suppose that a microorganism has a metabolic pathway A → (a)→ B→ (b)→ C→ (c)→ D (a, b, and c are enzymes). In order to produce only amino acid C in large amounts, you have to enhance the actions only of enzymes a and b and to get rid of the action of enzyme c. Strains are improved using various techniques to make this process possible.

A fermentation tank is filled with syrups/sugars derived from sugar cane, corn, and cassava, and then fermentation conditions are set so that the stirring conditions, air supply, temperature, and pH are optimum. Other production methods of amino acids

In addition to the fermentation method, the enzymatic reaction and extraction methods are used for producing amino acids.

With the enzymatic reaction method, an amino acid precursor is converted to the target amino acid using 1 or 2 enzymes. This enzyme method allows the conversion to a specific amino acid without microbial growth, thus eliminating the long process from glucose. This method comes into its own when the amino acid precursor is supplied at low prices.

With the extraction method, natural proteins are degraded to various amino acids, but the amount of each amino acid contained in the raw material proteins naturally restricts the yield.

The fermentation method has the advantage of mass production at low cost, which was the great impetus for expanding the amino acid market. The manufacturing method of glutamate shifted from the extraction method to the fermentation method in the 1960s. Findings were based upon hydrostatic body composition testing.

Study Results: The Exchange® product group had an average change in lean body mass of +3.23lbs, where the placebo group had an average change in lean body mass of .783lbs. The Exchange® product group had a 413% greater increase in lean mass gain over the placebo group. The Exchange® product group had an average change in fat mass of -5.0lbs, whereas the placebo group had an average change in fat mass of +.583. In comparison female subjects had near equivocal results to male subjects.

Discussion: This study validates Exchange® as a non-hormonal natural positive repartitioning agent in this study group. In the present study subjects were maintained for 28 days at a 2 capsule twice daily dosage resulting in the Exchange® formula group lean body mass increasing an average of 3.23lbs while decreasing fat stores an average of 5lbs non-dependent upon sex. Why Would I Care About Mouse Studies?

In an interesting study performed at The University of Iowa on mice (1), researchers found that a natural compound found in the waxy coating of apple peels had beneficial effects upon body composition. According to Dr. Christopher Adams and colleagues, the benefits appear to be due to the administration of the apple peel compound known as ursolic acid. The project started when Adams and colleagues researched and identified 63 genes that change in response to fasting. These genes are the same in both people and mice. Then the team quantified an additional 29 genes that change their expression in muscles tissue of people who are fasting and those with spinal cord injuries. Next step is obvious, the team of researchers evaluated over 1,300 small molecules eventually zeroing in on ursolic acid as a compound that might counteract muscle atrophy (muscle wasting).

The researchers explained these results in the mice were initiated at the gene level and were due to enhanced insulin/IGF-1 signaling in muscle and to corrections in gene signatures associated with muscle atrophy in both humans and mice (1,3). Another in study (12) confirmed that ursolic acid activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-α in vitro. Ursolic acid enhances the binding of PPAR-α to the peroxisome proliferator response element in PPAR-α-responsive genes, alters the expression of key genes in fat metabolism, significantly reducing intracellular triglyceride and cholesterol concentrations in hepatocytes. Thus, ursolic acid is a PPAR-α agonist that regulates the expression of lipid metabolism genes. Altering fat metabolism favorably at the genetic level appears to be one of the pathways by which ursolic acid reduces fat stores. In short, a very pro-lean-mass-gain/fat loss environment was induced.

There really are some well designed and researched products available from companies like Progenex with brilliant people like Dr. Scott Connelly and of course some of the creative and high quality proteins from good companies like MHP. But there is an inherent flaw in most proteins available on the market: They were not made for humans.

I Know We All Want Great Calves But We Are Not Calves

You are not a cow so why are you drinking cow proteins like whey and casein? Last time you had human protein was when Mom made it fresh for you. Cows milk protein is about 80% casein and 20% whey. Human milk protein is about 40% casein and 60% whey. There is no doubt that human whey is superior for human utilization at birth. As a baby grows breast milk proteins change until the ratio is about 50/50.

So What's the Big Deal?

Lets start from the source: Human milk whey protein is dominant in alpha-lactalbumin and cow milk whey protein is dominant in beta-lactoglobulin. Whereas alpha-lactalbumin has been studied well for validation associated with increased immune factors to disease, allergies, increased mineral absorption and growth factors specific to humans, beta-lactoglobulin has been associated with the exact opposite. Its for cows, what were you expecting?

In short that gut bloat is not just extra calories anymore than the excess gas you assumedly avoid sharing with friends and training partners is a supposed side effect of an anabolic environment. Gastronomical distress is not new to cow protein utilization by humans. As I said, you are a human so there should be little shock here. Immune issues will slow or stop growth and recovery while increasing cortisol production. Sometimes decrease in immune function can even lead to Immunotoxicity, but certainly rare in regard to proteins sources.

But Whey Has a PER (Protein Efficiency Ratio) of 104,Right?

Okay, BS. Since you cannot exceed 100% this is already a little silly. PER is a false method for evaluation of a proteins actual utilization in building new muscle tissue. What is the definition of PER?

A biological assay of the quality of a particular protein, measured as the gain in weight of an animal per gram of the protein eaten. The PER ratio is not used so much now, but until 1991 the PER was the legally required way of expressing protein quality for nutrition labeling in the USA.
Many still use it today. Bottom line is that no matter what you add to or fraction in whey protein from cows, its still from cows and not designed for humans.

Um, protein (such as cow whey) with the incorrect ration of amino acids specific to human physiology utilization results in stores of fat as well, so basing a proteins efficiency ratio on weight gain is obviously idiocy. A far superior method of assaying a proteins anabolic (muscle building) value and actual utilization in lean mass is Net Nitrogen Utilization or NNU. The very highest quality whey protein has a NNU of 16-17%. So this means the other 83-84% can be stored as fat, burned as calories, or hit the toilet. 83-84% catabolites is not a healthy or lean mass promoting percentage. The lions share goes by way of the latter BTW. So when you pay $20 USD for a pound (454 grams) of high quality whey protein powder you actually get about 77 grams of protein with an NNU near 100%. The rest hits the toilet for the most part. Good investment, huh? Kind of a crappy one in my opinion.
Want to add insult to injury? As we continue to ingest high levels of protein the amount utilized lessens over time. So whereas you were once utilizing 17% of that 100-200 grams of whey ingested daily it can drop to as low as half that over a prolonged period of high protein intake. What happens then? Even more body fat and toilet trash.

Suppose that a microorganism has a metabolic pathway A → (a)→ B→ (b)→ C→ (c)→ D (a, b, and c are enzymes). In order to produce only amino acid C in large amounts, you have to enhance the actions only of enzymes a and b and to get rid of the action of enzyme c. Strains are improved using various techniques to make this process possible.

A fermentation tank is filled with syrups/sugars derived from sugar cane, corn, and cassava, and then fermentation conditions are set so that the stirring conditions, air supply, temperature, and pH are optimum. When H+ causes your muscles' pH levels to drop, this immediately interferes with muscular contraction and quickly decreases strength as muscular fatigue sets in fast. This limitation prevents the adequate muscular overload required to stimulate muscle gains.

Beta-alanine inhibits this pH drop, which allows for the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphate (PCr) energy systems to continue to supply muscular energy for further muscular contraction. Beta-alanine ethly ester HCl acts as a pH buffer by increasing the production of carnosine, which is a dipeptide known to buffer lactic acid accumulation and neutralize hydrogen ions. Beta-alanine is the rate-limiting step in carnosine synthesis, meaning that the amount of carnosine in the body is dependent on how much beta-alanine is still available for utilization. Studies have shown that supplementing with beta-alanine increases carnosine concentration by as much as 42% to 65% in just four weeks. L-Citrulline Malate

Citrulline Malate works by powering ATP (the energy molecule that fuels muscle) production and by eliminating metabolic pollutants such as lactic acid and ammonia from the blood. Citrulline stimulates energy, boosts the immune system, is metabolized to form L-Arginine and as a result regulate Nitric Oxide production, and detoxifies ammonia, which damages living cells. Creatinol-O-Phosphate

This compound is ten times more expensive than creatine monohydrate. Although its name suggests it is a form of creatine, Creatinol-O-Phosphate is actually not a creatine compound, but rather works as a performance-enhancing agent. The action of Creatinol-O-Phosphate appears to be complementary to that of beta-alanine and functions as an intracellular buffer by increasing anaerobic glycolysis in the presence of lactic acid (lactate).

Thus, Creatinol-O-Phosphate extends the time under tension when performing highly intense workloads. It is believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate delays the onset of failure at the neuromuscular junction, which is where the nervous system communicates with a muscle cell. This is of particular significance during eccentric (negative) work because eccentric failure is the result of fatigue at the neuromuscular junction. Failure at the neuromuscular junction results in a loss of sarcolemma(plasma membrane) integrity, which breaks down communication between the nervous system and muscle cells. This is the principal reason that failure occurs during intense negative workloads and is the result of the buildup of lactic acid.

By delaying the onset effects of lactic acid, and by preserving for a bit longer the integrity of the neuromuscular junction by increasing tolerance to neuromuscular fatigue, the nervous system can still communicate with muscle cells, resulting in the maximum recruitment of muscle fibers that would have never have otherwise been stimulated. Greater overall muscular stimulation then translates to increased hypertrophy.

It is also believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate reduces the loss of creatine kinase across the plasma membrane. This allows muscle cells to convert creatine to PCr and then to ATP more efficiently, which contributes to more muscular energy.

Creatinol-O-Phosphate is said to complement beta-alanine because Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over where beta-alanine leaves off. Beta-alanine results in greater production of carnosine, which buffers out H+ and thus balances muscular pH. However, when carnosine hits its limit and lactic acid builds up, Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over to allow for continued performance of negative workloads even in the presence of lactic acid.

During high-intensity weight training or strength related athletics, muscles are forced to continue contracting without sufficient oxygen (anaerobic activity) and end products like H+ (hydrogen ion), primarily from lactic acid buildup, accumulate and cause a decrease in the pH (making the muscular environment more acidic). When H+ causes your muscles' pH levels to drop, this immediately interferes with muscular contraction and quickly decreases strength as muscular fatigue sets in fast. This limitation prevents the adequate muscular overload required to stimulate muscle gains.

Beta-alanine inhibits this pH drop, which allows for the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphate (PCr) energy systems to continue to supply muscular energy for further muscular contraction. Beta-alanine ethly ester HCl acts as a pH buffer by increasing the production of carnosine, which is a dipeptide known to buffer lactic acid accumulation and neutralize hydrogen ions. Beta-alanine is the rate-limiting step in carnosine synthesis, meaning that the amount of carnosine in the body is dependent on how much beta-alanine is still available for utilization. Studies have shown that supplementing with beta-alanine increases carnosine concentration by as much as 42% to 65% in just four weeks. Researchers have found that the combination of creatine and beta-alanine has favorable effects on the accumulation of lean muscle mass.

L-Citrulline Malate

Citrulline Malate works by powering ATP (the energy molecule that fuels muscle) production and by eliminating metabolic pollutants such as lactic acid and ammonia from the blood. Citrulline stimulates energy, boosts the immune system, is metabolized to form L-Arginine and as a result regulate Nitric Oxide production, and detoxifies ammonia, which damages living cells. All exercise results in production of Ammonia

Creatinol-O-Phosphate

This compound is ten times more expensive than creatine monohydrate. Although its name suggests it is a form of creatine, Creatinol-O-Phosphate is actually not a creatine compound, but rather works as a performance-enhancing agent. The action of Creatinol-O-Phosphate appears to be complementary to that of beta-alanine and functions as an intracellular buffer by increasing anaerobic glycolysis in the presence of lactic acid (lactate).

Thus, Creatinol-O-Phosphate extends the time under tension when performing highly intense workloads. It is believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate delays the onset of failure at the neuromuscular junction, which is where the nervous system communicates with a muscle cell. This is of particular significance during eccentric (negative) work because eccentric failure is the result of fatigue at the neuromuscular junction. Failure at the neuromuscular junction results in a loss of sarcolemma(plasma membrane) integrity, which breaks down communication between the nervous system and muscle cells. This is the principal reason that failure occurs during intense negative workloads and is the result of the buildup of lactic acid.

By delaying the onset effects of lactic acid, and by preserving for a bit longer the integrity of the neuromuscular junction by increasing tolerance to neuromuscular fatigue, the nervous system can still communicate with muscle cells, resulting in the maximum recruitment of muscle fibers that would have never have otherwise been stimulated. Greater overall muscular stimulation then translates to increased hypertrophy.

It is also believed that Creatinol-O-Phosphate reduces the loss of creatine kinase across the plasma membrane. This allows muscle cells to convert creatine to PCr and then to ATP more efficiently, which contributes to more muscular energy.

Creatinol-O-Phosphate is said to complement beta-alanine because Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over where beta-alanine leaves off. Beta-alanine results in greater production of carnosine, which buffers out H+ and thus balances muscular pH. However, when carnosine hits its limit and lactic acid builds up, Creatinol-O-Phosphate takes over to allow for continued performance of negative workloads even in the presence of lactic acid.
